Conservative Co-Chairman Oliver Dowden resigns in the wake of a double byelection loss for the Tories
At 5.35am on the 24th June 2022, Oliver Dowden announced his resignation as Conservative Party Chair following the double defeat in the Wakefield and Honiton & Tiverton byelections.
In his letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson he stated "We cannot carry on with business as usual. Somebody must take responsibility and I have concluded that, in these circumstances, it would not be right for me to remain in office."
